Purpose of the role: Responsible for assisting in managing the production area, associated people and equipment including stock control and purchase orders, quality of products, housekeeping, training and development of team members in that area whilst operating in a safe and efficient manner. Also to assist the Production Manager ensure all company policies are acted upon in accordance with prescribed company requirements.
Aim: Assist the Production Manager in the day to day running of the Production/Despatch departments. To consistently exceed high levels of customer service and product quality. This includes assisting in the management of stock levels, staffing and resources.
Main Duties
- When the Production Manager is on annual leave or involved with other projects the Senior Production Assistant role is to carry out all the day to day duties within the Production/Despatch Departments which include opening & closing the rooms, sorting orders, reviewing tag orders and getting stock as required. Also dealing with general queries from the Customer Service team.
- Assist with the packing and despatch of orders supporting the business in the delivery of excellent customer service standards.
- Able to create new drawing designs & execute them ensuring high standards are met and customer expectations are achieved.
- Assist the Production Manager with monthly stock takes, reviewing stock on a daily basis and accurately recording and putting deliveries away in the correct locations.
- Raising Purchase orders as required and within limits set. Ensuring there are no stock outs.
- Ensure the lasers are running 100% efficiently and that the operatives have enough orders and stock to hand. Orders are to be checked prior to handing them over to the laser operatives and any queries dealt with. This is to ensure the laser operatives do not have to unnecessarily leave there work station.
- Record wastage and maintain appropriate records. Ensure wastage is kept to a minimum and the Production Manager is informed of any problems. Create reports as and when required.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards, ensure work stations are cleaned down at the end of the day and all unused stock returned to the correct location.
- Follow Health & Safety procedures.
- Use initiative within the department to identify or recommend cost savings or efficiencies.
People Management

Essential Criteria
- G.C.S.E or equivalent English and Maths, grade C or higher
- Excellent communication skills verbal and written
- 1 years’ experience in a similar role
- The ability to multi-task and prioritise
- Adaptable and flexible in your approach to your working day
